In the 1980's I was working as a Psychiatric Social Worker and had a week long training in use of the Heimler Scale of Social Functioning - I liked Eugene Heimler's "self help" approach - demystifying therapy. I made good use of the Scale in my work and then managed to get Heimler's book "Survival in Society" from the Durban Library - it helped me to form a relationship with the human being ( Eugene Heimler) who had developed a deep understanding of human behaviour and when I used the scale it felt like I was sharing Eugene Heimler's approach to working with people rather than simply using a scale - Eugene Heimler the person and the professor became one of my professional role models. Reading the Healing Echo ( sold to me by you) is an enrichment of my previous relationship with Eugene Heimler's work and I will be drawing on this book in what is left of my Social Work career ( I will be 65 years of age in a few days time.
